Chateau du Tournel

The Château du Tournel is a castle from the 13th century located in the Lozère region, south of France, nowadays in ruins. The nearby village commissioned Novelab to create an app showcasing what the archeologists believe was the state of the castle during its golden age. The app runs on a tactile display installed in the castle for the visitors to learn its history. I modeled the castle and the environment, as well as created the textures and shaders in unity. Fabien Lacan with his tech art expertise helped me on the shaders and did the post processing. Since it was an historical project advised by archeologists, numerous retakes had to be made in order to comply with their remarks, on all sorts of historical details about the caste. I thus heavily used Blender's modifiers, especially geometry nodes, in order to procedurally add detail geometry on the surface, depending of its material (bricks, roof tiles, ...) in a non destructive manner, so I could quickly modify the castle upon their requests.
